2 Heathwood Hall girls competed in the inaugural Shamrock/City of Columbia 5K Cross Country Invitational at Owens Field park on Saturday, September 14.

Junior Catherine Barron finished in 3rd place behind two Irmo HS girls. In a close photo finish, Barron was just nipped at the tape in a battle for 2nd place.

Heathwood 8th grader Laela Caplinger used a strong kick to hold off a hard charging runner from Cardinal Newman to capture the 4th place medal. The 3rd & 4th place finishes represent the first time this season 2 Heathwood girls have finished in the top 5 in a race. Congratulations ladies!
