Girls Varsity Track · Lady Highlanders Shine at Diamond Hornet Invitational


The Heathwood Hall girls’ track team turned in an outstanding performance at the Diamond Hornets Invitational Track & Field meet on Saturday. The team finished in 4th place in the competition which featured 31 schools!

Senior Aly Conyers and freshman Madelyn Gomez led the Highlander charge with first place finishes in the 400 Meter Run and two mile run respectively. Conyers also turned in an outstanding performance in the 200 meter dash with a 2nd place finish and Gomez finished in 4th place in the mile run. Additional individual point scorers were Gabby David (6th place in the long jump), Catherine Barron (7th place in the 2 mile), Hanna Jacobson (7th place – shot put), and Claire Sobel (7th place – 100 Hurdles). The 4 x 800 meter relay (Catherine Barron, Hanna Coetsee, Madeline Hurst, and Madelyn Gomez) also turned in an outstanding performance with a 2nd place finish!

In the JV mile race, 7th grader Reston Wood finished in first place and 6th grader Logan Wells finished in 3rd place, earning them medals for their efforts!

The following girls all qualified for the state track meet – Catherine Barron (mile, 2 mile, 4 x 800), Hanna Coetsee (4 x 800), Aly Conyers (200, 400), Gabby David (long jump), Madelyn Gomez (mile, 2 mile, 4 x 800 relay), Madeline Hurst (mile, 2 mile), Hanna Jacobson (shot put), Pamela Ann Pope (pole vault), Claire Sobel (100 hurdles), Logan Wells (mile), Reston Wood (mile).
