The Varsity Girls opened the 2018 season, as they hosted the inaugural South Beltline Cup, presented by Home Pest Control. In their first match, the Highlanders hosted the defending Georgia State Champion Augusta Prep in front of a great crowd, falling late by a score of 4-2.
The team played great soccer during portions of the match, and senior Kate Nassab and sophomore Anna Davis tallied goals for the night. Despite the scoreline, goalkeepers Constance McCants and Isabelle Lord played terrific in the net.
The Highlanders (0-1) will have a quick turnaround in the tournament, with a doubleheader scheduled the following morning with 4A South Pointe and 2A Southside Christian on Saturday.
