The Varsity Girls Soccer team (1-1) got their first win of the season, knocking off 4A public school South Point on Saturday morning, by a 3-1 scoreline.

After a sluggish AM start, the Stallions tallied first on a free kick early in the second half. The goal energized the Highlanders who came roaring back with three goals, first from Anna Davis shortly after the SPHS goal. Junior Kathleen Powers’ free kick gave the Highlanders the lead for good, before Davis took an Emmye Mullins pass late and slotted it home for the game’s final score.

Senior goalkeeper Isabelle Lord played 40 minutes of shutout soccer in the win.

The Highlanders will wrap up the tournament in the afternoon against SCHSL 2A power Southside Christian.
