Boys Varsity Track · Boys Varsity Track finishes 3rd place at Region Championship at Ben Lippen

Our young boys track & field team competed well on Wednesday at the SCISA AAA Region I Championship hosted by Ben Lippen. The team finished in 3rd place with 65 points, behind Ben Lippen and Cardinal Newman and ahead of Hammond and Augusta Christian. Senior Lane Clarkson continued his dominance in the pole vault with another 1st place region title thanks to a 13 foot vault! Lane’s 14 foot season best currently ranks 1st in SCISA and 6th overall in the state of South Carolina.

In addition to Clarkson’s outstanding performance the Highlanders were paced by freshmen Hugh Willcox and Robert Golden. Willcox finished in 1st place in the 800 and 2nd place in the 1600, while Golden finished in 2nd place in the 800 and 4th place in the 1600. The team also received a 2nd place finish from Neb Sneath in the 3200 meter run. Other region point scorers include Azhane Salaam (400 meter run – 5th place), Jon David Gardner (800 meter run -5th place), Myles Roberts (400 meter hurdles – 4th place), Elijah Rhooms (400 meter hurdles – 5th place), Gavin Goodwin (Discus-5th place), and Keshaun Brown (Shot Put-4th place). We also received very strong performances from our relays 4 x 100 (2nd place), 4 x 400 (3rd place), and 4 x 800 (2nd place). See the attachment for complete meet results.
