The Varsity Boys Soccer team (1-3) dropped their final match ahead of Region I-AAA play with a 4-0 road loss to AC Flora.
The Highlanders found themselves behind early, as the Falcons tallied on the board just 5 minutes into play. Despite the early setback, Heathwood settled in and with less than 10 minutes to play in the half, appeared to be headed towards a halftime score of just the one-goal deficit. Instead, a 45-second span saw AC Flora win and finish a penalty before countering the ensuing kickoff and punching a third goal in.
Down 3-0 at half, the team kept pressuring the Falcons but couldn’t quite get the finishing touch. A quick counter midway through the second half put the final score on the board, and finalized the match.
The team will return to action after Winterim Break on the road, as they travel to region foe Ben Lippen on 3/13.
