The Varsity Boys Soccer team traveled to Camden for their final non-region match of the season, and came away 6-1 winners over Camden Military Academy.
Traveling with only 17 players available of the 25 on the roster, the Highlanders showed the heavy legs of a team fresh off of a tough Region game the night before, until Marsh Taylor opened the scoring from an assist from Alejandro Sanchez in the 14th minute. Senior Brandon McCullough doubled the lead 5 minutes later, before the Spartans were awarded and converted a penalty kick in the 23rd minute. McCullough grabbed his second of the night before the half, giving the Highlanders a 3-1 lead at the break.
In the second half, however, it was all the visitors as freshman Jeremiah Heyward claimed his first goal in a Heathwood uniform just two minutes in, before junior Davis Buchanan notched a brace with goals in the 62nd and 78th minutes. CMA would be awarded a second penalty, but sophomore Grayson Tanner turned away the Spartans attempt and rebound.
Heathwood (5-8, 2-4) will travel for the final time in the regular season on Wednesday, as they head to Cardinal Newman.
