Highlanders News · Highlander Athletic Updates – May 2nd

Senior Nick Basile will sign with Queens University of Charlotte on Thursday, May 3rd at 12:45PM in the Heathwood Dining Commons!  Basile led the Highlanders in 2018 to the SCISA State Semifinals, and was a standout performer for the Highlanders in Cross Country during his Heathwood career.  Make plans to join us while we celebrate with Nick and the Heathwood community!

Spring Sports are wrapping up!  The Baseball, Golf, Lacrosse, JV Soccer, and JV Tennis teams have concluded their seasons, while Varsity Soccer & the Track & Field teams will conclude their seasons over the next two weeks!

Varsity Baseball, led by senior All-Region selection Wade Allen finished 5th in region play, despite close games in a majority of their games.  The Boys Golfteam finished 3rd in the region and 9th in the state after a wet and soggy two days at the SCISA State Championships in Conway.  The Varsity Lacrosseteam lost in the SCISA State Semifinals on the road at Hammond, but closed their score against the Skyhawks in each matchup.  The Varsity Girls Soccer team finished tied for 3rd in region play, and earned two All-Region nods with sophomore Anna Davis and senior Kate Nassab.  The team will travel in the State quarterfinals against either Porter-Gaud on Pinewood Prep.  The Varsity Boys Soccer team finished 4th in region play and will travel to Porter-Gaud for the opening round of the state tournament, as junior Donovan Arrington earned All-Region recognition.  The Boys Track & Field team collected several individual titles during the Region meet, earning a 3rd place team finish, while the Girls Track team claimed the 2018 Region Championship!  Both teams will travel this Saturday to Porter-Gaud for the SCISA State Meet.

Spring Practices for Fall Sports Have Started!

Several fall teams have kicked off preseason practices in preparation of the 2018 seasons!  Make sure all athletes are cleared for practice by registering for practices on Family ID — Athletes will not be permitted to begin practices/workouts until registered!

To be able to participate in spring practices for fall sports, parents must register their student-athletes on Family ID and fill out all forms — with the exception of the Helmet Form, which is for Football Players only.

– The Physical Exam Form, Anaphylaxis Emergency Action PlanAsthma Action Plan, and Prescription Medication Authorization can be downloaded and signed by the doctor, and then uploaded to Family ID.

Once forms are completed, you will be notified once they have been approved.
No one is allowed to participate in any practice until all forms have been completed online and approved.  
PLEASE NOTE – When you register on Family ID, please make sure that you register for the correct sport and season that your child is participating in.  Registration must be completed by parents and not the athlete!

*If an athlete is playing more than 1 sport in the same season they will need to sign up for both sports on Family ID.*
